This is a Cessna Corvalis TT. Without a doubt this is the one plane that I would love to fly and own! I haven’t flown it yet, so I may change my mind about it, but I highly doubt it. One cool fact about this aircraft is it’s outer body. They paneling on this plane has a mesh lining so that if this plane were to be struck by lightning, the electrons will bleed off toward the back of the plane in order to protect the electronic instruments within the plane. Another thing I like about this plane is it is only a round one hundred thousand dollars. This will be affordable for me once I actually have a job as a pilot with a local corporate company. The Cessna Corvalis TT is also a four seater. Which is nice because then I would be able to take a few other people at a time to wherever I am flying to. Maybe to like a Packer’s football game or something. I really would love to go out and just fly places. Kind of like a road cruise but flying. I just want to explore the air and travel places rather than having a destination on my flight. Anyways, this aircraft is also equipped with a glass cockpit and also has a touch screen control panel in the center council. Plus, after seeing many different images of Cessna Corvalis owners, this plane also has a lot of head room, making it very comfortable for long distance flights. Another reason I would love to own this aircraft is that it has a lot of power within the engine and can actually do long distance flights. Not over seas necessarily but at least around the states. I am pretty excited to be an owner of a Corvalis but first, I’m going to enjoy the time spent flying and trying to earn the money to be able to own a Cessna Corvalis TT.

Birthdays. What is so special about birthdays? Why do we celebrate birthdays? I know that they are celebrations of the day that we were born and came into this world but why exactly is it a tradition? Why, as we get older, do we less appreciate birthdays? I mean, why exactly do we continue to have birthday celebrations when most people that I know think that the more birthdays you have are only one more year closer to your death. Is that really how we are suppose to look upon these celebration? How are we suppose to see this celebration? Are we suppose to just look at it as a way of receiving a bunch of gifts from our family and friends, or are we suppose to realize that we had had another successful year of being alive and should appreciate the last year of our lives and begin to see a better future for the upcoming year? I think birthdays are kind of misused. I think that most people only see birthdays as the day they are allowed to be greedy and do whatever they want. The way I see it is that people think it’s just another holiday that will give them and excuse to party, be drunk, receive a bunch of gifts, and be rude to everybody because they make everybody do everything for them and make their excuse be, “Oh, sorry, it’s my birthday.” I don’t think that is right or in better words, fair. I think that people should enjoy their birthday celebration but they should also not abuse it. People put a lot of time into having these celebrations for one another so why not show a little respect for these people? I say all this because my birthday is coming up and I was afraid that I was only thinking about what I would be getting for my birthday rather than thinking about how much time people spend into putting on a party for that person’s birthday.

Texting while flying? In this video, it tells about the new rules in aviation. There have been some trouble with personal devices being used by pilots in the cockpit of the planes they fly. This is no different than Iowa’s law of no texting while driving. Using any sort of technological device while operating a vehicle is without a doubt, very irresponsible and unsafe. I would say that it is even more dangerous for a pilot to be operating a plane and using some sort of a personal devices than if it were like a teenager driving down the road and texting because the pilot does have either precious cargo or even passengers within the planes with them. Every pilot should be fully aware of what they are doing as they operate their plane. If they don’t problems are more likely to occur. The FAA does not ban all technology while in the cockpit though. Tablets, phones, and also laptops are not allows for personal use while operating a plane. Although, the FAA does allow the use of tablets and laptops while flying a plane only if the pilot is using the devices for work related use only. There is one thing that I am not so sure of though. I mean the pilot will know that they are not suppose to be using their tablet or laptop for personal use while they are flying their plane but how will the FAA be able to enforce that while the pilot in the cockpit is in the air? I think of this just as it is with texting and driving. I just don’t see how the law enforcement will be able to pursue people that don’t follow this rule of not using technology while operating a moving vehicle. I just don’t know. I guess pilots will only have to realize their job is at stake and they should be responsible enough and respectful of every life on board as they operate their plane.

So, we are beginning new projects that will take our class, Kennedy High School’s World Humanities and Comp class, to the end of our second term. This project is set with a group. I have two other classmates as my partners that are with me on this project. In the beginning we were struggling to figure out what we really wanted to do with this project. We were struggling because never before have we ever had to figure out what we actually thought was interesting about a subject and have to do a presentation on the religion. This a whole new twist to things. I think it is pretty cool that we are now able to go out and find information about a particular subject rather than having a set of guidlines that are telling us what we must do like a list of questions that we must answer and then receive a grade. By doing the project this way, us, as students, are able to be more responsible and creative rather than just following orders. It is, in my opinion, a way better way of learning. I think students do learn better by doing rather than following. Your mind then has to work harder to actual figure out the issue and make a solution to the problem rather than the teacher having the solution for you and then giving you a bad grade if you don’t come up with the same solution as them. I think, in that sort of teaching, is wrong. I believe that students must be put in an environment of responsiblility, challenge, and self-teaching with the help of the teacher at their side when they need help. Not all students know or are able to just get up and start trying to do things on their own. Some may need a jump start from the teacher, which is completely okay. But in the in end, I think students, especially seniors, must do things more on their own rather than babied so they are prepared for the real world.

Food. Why do we love food so much? Why do we always have to have food? What makes food so special? Why is there always this thing inside our heads saying, “Dude, you wants some grub!” I, for one, absolutely love food! I do not really know what I would do if I didn’t have food. I wouldn’t call it an addiction, but I always am having some sort of a snack or a big meal at some point in my day. I usually have to have like a bag of chips with some salsa. Right now I am munching on some Tostitos: Hint of Lime. These chips are amazing! You don’t even need to have salsa with these tortilla chips. They are delicious in themselves. Chips aren’t the only thing that I am always snacking on. Another thing I am always snacking on is yogurt. I will always go downstairs to open the fridge and find a yogurt to consume. I generally prefer to have just regular Yoplait yogurt but my favorite is the Chobani Greek yogurt. I don’t know what it is but I just love the consistancey of it and how it is basically vanilla yogurt with the flavoring at the bottom so you have to stir in the mix. I also usually have a lot of fruit too if we have any. My favorite meal would have to be breakfast. I would have breakfast at any point of the day. I would have it for breakfast, brunch, lunch, supper, dessert, or even mid-night snack! I’ll usually find something like a bagel, muffin, toaster strudel, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. Eggs, waffles, and bacon are also a large part of my meals. I grew up with grandparents and my grandpa is Irish so I grew to prefer to have toast with every single meal that we had. For some reason, we just always had to have bread with our meals. That was just the thing at home.

Financial aid is the biggest thing on my mind at this point in time. Other than my birthday coming up, financial aid is the next biggest thing on my mind. I recently have received my W2’s from work the other day. Now all I have to do is work with my FAFSA application and see what kind or how much financial aid I can actually receive for my college fees. I am pretty anxious to know how much I may be in debt after college. My admissions counselor had told me that most of the University of Dubuque’s students leave with about $30,000 in debt. This wouldn’t be too bad, being that I was told also by my admissions counselor and my soon to be flight instructors that most of the Aviation students that leave the University of Dubuque usually start off at a job that pays at least $70,000 a year, right outside of college, so I’m not too worried about that. I am just worried about going through college and hopefully not have to have the financial part worry me too much to where I am unable to concentrate on my actual work while in college. I am excited to begin flying though. I haven’t flown in a while and I miss it like crazy. I miss the feeling of that total freedom and weightlessness. It’s truly a life changing experience. I never wanted to leave that moment when I first experienced it on my first take off. Flying and being a pilot is definitely the one and only thing I want to really succeed at in life. I want to be the best pilot out there. I would love to explore many different aircraft and check out which ones I prefer. I would also love to fly a jet at some point and fly somewhere for lunch! I think that would be really cool.

Dr. Pepper. It is by far thee most satisfying drink I have ever had. It is also my most favorite drink, ever! I have had a huge crush on Dr. Pepper since the first time I took a sip of it’s delicious contents. I even wear the Dr. Pepper apparel. I wear the Dr. Pepper pajama pants and t-shirt. I would love to get the earrings for myself. If you ever come across me at any point in my day, you would probably find me with a Dr. Pepper in my hand, sipping away. I have a slight addiction to this wonderful beverage. I only wish they would have made a Dr. Pepper in glass bottles. Any other soda refreshment that I have had in a glass bottle has always been significantly better tasting than having the beverage in a plastic cup, fountain soda, or tin can. I think if the Dr. Pepper company did decide to make some Dr. Pepper in glass containers, they would have a huge increase in sales. To go all economic on you, I would be much more satisfied with having the glass bottled Dr. Pepper, rather than the can soda of Dr. Pepper. That would then increase my demand for Dr. Pepper if the company had decided to go with glass bottles. They could still produce the other containers for serving Dr. Pepper but have the option of glass bottles. There is one issue with having this sort of addiction. It is a caffeinated beverage, therefore, I do have to watch my weight and the quantity of how much I consume. I have to do this because if I don’t, then I get caught up with drinking more and more and I won’t be able to go to sleep after a while. The caffeine starts to kick in and I get restless and not able to sleep.

New years. What is new years to some people? News years could be a fresh start or new beginnings. It could be an end. Maybe a turn over a leaf, so to speak. To some it may just be another year or a continuation of the life they have been living whether it be what they wished for or not. It all depends on the person. Some peopole say that new years is an event to party or for resolutions. I can honestly can say that I agree to both. I believe people should party for the start of a new year! To me, new years is a way of saying “I made it…” or “One down and many joyful ones to come…” New years, to me, is a fresh start. You can make a resolution with yourself to realize that there are some things you can either do without, with very little, or need to have in your life. Although I don’t believe people should wait for this once a year event in order to figure these sorts of things out for themselves but I am merely stating that this a great time to pursue these goals. 2013 for me, will be the end to beginnings and beginnings to new beginnings. If that makes sense at all. I will be going to college here in the coming fall, which of course I am very excited about. It is a very new beginning for me. A very exciting beginning but also very scary beginning if you ask me. It’s a time of new responibilities being all on your own and all. But also, this new year I have decided to keep moving forward and pursue my long term goals as best as I can. To live life to my fullest and to look up toward bigger and brighter moments in my life. To leave the past behind, learn from it, and move on.

Limitless. What sort of limits do we all think we have in our every day life? In this movie, Limitless, a man is struggling with being the writer that he is. He comes across his ex-wife’s brother who just happens to be a drug dealer. They go out for a drink and the brother offers this guy this pill. The pill happens to be a very specific type of narcotic. This pill gives your brain access to every part of your brain. By doing this you are able to do so much more and uncover memories that you completely forgot about which then in turn let’s him become the smartest man alive. Knowledge becomes his strong suit. He ends up finishing his book and ends up making millions of dollars in the stock markets within only two weeks due to a formula that he created. He thinks you can beat the stock market with simply only a mathematical formula. This is absolutely genious. He was also able to calculate that this van was going to crash into another vehicle because the driver was paying attention to the coffee they had spilt instead of the road. Completely “Limitless!” I think this sort of narcotic is very interesting. I think if we could pull something like this off and make it safe with no side effects and still be able to stay safe and not overwork our brains. I think we should start looking into this sort of science. To be able to use every part of your brain that it is capable of would be absolutely outstanding! We would have endless possibilities. Technology would be booming. Outer space travel would probably be the norm. Quite a few jobs would probably be removed from society but some sort of new ones would probably take their place. Absolutely everything would be enhanced to the max. I can’t even really imagine what that sort of world would be like. It’s just too different from our daily life now to even put a picture in my head with an idea of what life would be like having an “Open Mind,” so to speak.
