This is a Cessna Corvalis TT. Without a doubt this is the one plane that I would love to fly and own! I haven’t flown it yet, so I may change my mind about it, but I highly doubt it. One cool fact about this aircraft is it’s outer body. They paneling on this plane has a mesh lining so that if this plane were to be struck by lightning, the electrons will bleed off toward the back of the plane in order to protect the electronic instruments within the plane. Another thing I like about this plane is it is only a round one hundred thousand dollars. This will be affordable for me once I actually have a job as a pilot with a local corporate company. The Cessna Corvalis TT is also a four seater. Which is nice because then I would be able to take a few other people at a time to wherever I am flying to. Maybe to like a Packer’s football game or something. I really would love to go out and just fly places. Kind of like a road cruise but flying. I just want to explore the air and travel places rather than having a destination on my flight. Anyways, this aircraft is also equipped with a glass cockpit and also has a touch screen control panel in the center council. Plus, after seeing many different images of Cessna Corvalis owners, this plane also has a lot of head room, making it very comfortable for long distance flights. Another reason I would love to own this aircraft is that it has a lot of power within the engine and can actually do long distance flights. Not over seas necessarily but at least around the states. I am pretty excited to be an owner of a Corvalis but first, I’m going to enjoy the time spent flying and trying to earn the money to be able to own a Cessna Corvalis TT.

Fearless Felix Lands Record Breaking Jump! He jumped from 24 miles above the Earth’s surface reaching supersonic speads with only his body weight and and oxygen supply system! I don’t know about you but I think this is truely amazing. For one, I would never jump out of a perfectly good airplane! I think that is a waste even though somebody else would be flying the aircraft but that is beside the point. I feel that this guy has a lot of nerve and no fear! I think he has a nack for dangerous and explosively exciting stunts. Most of which I would never try. Like that picture of the group creating a massive spiral structure with over a couple hundred expert sky divers. I think that super neat but nothing I would ever do. I mean he was over twenty four miles in the air and then just jumping! I am  in physics right now and I had just learned that with only the force of gravity alone and not taking in the account of the friction of the air, you accelerate and a rate of 9.81 square meters per second! That is truly incredible! I say kuddos to the this for being brave enough to do something that I know a lot of people wouldn’t do but to at least show what we as humans are actually capable of accomplishing. Thanks man, from all of us! I mean there  are so many things that could have gone wrong, but they didn’t which is wonderful, don’t get me wrong! Though I think it was a highly dangerous feat to complete. He could have not have been able to pull his shoot out and fallen to his death he could have blacked out from the pressure and lost his breath, etc. I just think that this guy is really cool because he performed this amazing feat!

Not too long ago the Feds found Loose Seats on American Airline Plane. They found that in row 12, there were a few loose seats and that passengers should not ride in those seats until maintenance has taken place. A question that quickly popped into my head was, “How old is this plane?” I mean, most airlines try to keep their aircraft, not necessarily up to date, but at least up to snuff on maintenance to ensure maximum safety for it’s passengers. If I was flying with American Airlines, I would not exactly feel safe if I knew that there were seats comeing out and not being secured down safely. I am sure the American Airliners have lost a little business from this news but I’m sure it hasn’t dropped much due to the fact that people still choose to fly. That is sort of from the economic stand point. Something else that occurred to me was, “Who is the safety advisor for the American Airlines?” I know for sure the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) has a strong foot in all the safety regulations with any aircraft or airliner but who is the advisor for that fleet of aircraft? Do they have a say in the safety regulations too? Should airlines start checking off longer lists of things to check on the plane before each flight now? Were the maintenance people not properly trained? Did the engineer design a poor design of seats? Did the mechanic apply the safener (bolts) down too loose or too tight? There are so many questions to this topic it is absolutely astounding! Would you still fly with American Airlines or even fly at all? Or would you fly with a different company? As a pilot, this has not changed my views one bit. I am still going to fly and probably just take more precautions before I takeoff next time!

The Twin Otter! This aircraft is a plane that is often flown internationally. I can fly is most weather conditions and is capable to land on almost any surface. I was recently having a nice pilot to pilot chat over email with m step mother’s new husband and he was telling me that he been a pilot of the Havilland fleet Twin Otter and getting paid very nicely! The first few things he was telling me is that experience is the key to becoming a pilot! He said to me that you need to do what you can to not just get caught up with all the simulator junk and keep up with the experience of mastering the aircraft of your choice. To poke around and fly a bunch of different aircraft and see which one you love to fly the best and then stick with it, master it, then find a job that will take your hard earned experience to put it to the test as a career and succeed! He had done this with the Twin Otter and is now happily doing what he loves flying around the world, seeing new sights ever day, while flying the plane of his choice. Now that is definitely the way to go! Therefore, I plan to take his advice by doing what I can to get through college at the University of Dubuque where I was recently accepted and given a large scholarship of $40,000 and continue to gain experience with the smaller aircraft, obtain my licenses and possibly go corporate and start getting a lot of experience early on in my career choice of becoming a professional pilot! This is something that I great enjoy and appreciate and I would love to make the most out of it by doing what I can while I can. Thanks again for the advice from all the pilots I’ve talked to!

Pilot does ‘perfect’ job at JFK after nose-gear failure has passengers brace for crash landing. A pilot, and his crew, were flying a passenger plane from Rio de Janeiro to New York. When they were putting out their landing gear they realized the nose gear was turned ninty degrees. The crew and its passengers prepared for crash landing. A passenger said, “The captain kept saying,’Be calm, keep calm. We know what we’re doing.'” Though, once they reached fifty feet above the runway, the nose wheel miraculously turned and they landed safe as they would have before. Some are calling it a freak accident others are making it out as if the hand of God turned the wheel. In my opinion, I honestly believe that somebody on the plane was praying really hard and God answered their prayer to save everybody on that plane. It wasn’t their time in God’s plan. I would have been extremely nervous though. I mean that is a very large aircraft and if I thought it wasn’t going to make it to the runway I would have been really nervous. I would have done my best to be calm enough to keep the others calm but I definitely would have been really nervous! This sort of reminds me of that old guy that put the plane in the Hudson river a few years ago. Like he just had the idea pop into his head to land the plane in the river.

This is a photo of a group of four hundred professional sky divers in Udon Thani, Thailand. They jumped out of five different Royal Thai Air Force C-130s from 23,000 feet. Okay, my FIRST question is, “who in their right mind would jump out of a perfectly good plane?” I mean I am a pilot (to be) and I don’t see why people would sky dive. Maybe that is just me. I mean I see the whole point of having that rush of actually feeling like you would be able to fly but then you have that problem of not really being able to control the direction of where you are going. At that point, you are in all trust of you parachute. I don’t think I could do that. I mean I probably will sky dive someday (the whole bucket list deal) but I would much rather stay inside of the aircraft and get that sense of my dream of being able to fly! I would rather have that “Bird’s Eye ‘point-of-view.'” Though, I do really like this photo I mean, this group of people are the true definition of professionals. This is absolutely astounding and would take a really long time in order to get everybody to know where they will be positioned and when they need to drop out of their plane in order to have everything be perfectly timed. It is truly a masterpiece and an art! I also thought it was really cool how they had everything color coordinated.  The first thing I thought of when I saw this photo was that they were representing something about the fourth of July. That’s just my first perspective of this photo.

What is your impression of the Beechcraft King Air 250 (BKA 250) flying out of Chester, United Kingdom? Well, for one, the first thing I think of from this photo the BKA 250 is speed. This plane looks fast, let alone that it is a multi engine turbo-prop plane. The BKA 250 looks to be a commercial aircraft with retractable landing gear creating less intended drag. This aircraft also has wingtip devices. These wingtips are designed to reduce the drag by channeling the wingtip vortex, creating less drag and more speed, which also in turn makes for a larger payload to be carried on the aircraft. What elso do you notice about this larger aircraft? Did you notice the whale tail on the the emmpennage? If you didn’t already know, the emmpennage is the rear controlling region of the aircraft. This is by far, the most essential and most important area of your aircraft, since this area performs about two thirds of your control of the aircraft. Anyways, the whale fin of the BKA 250 is also another piece to direct air travel and create less drag. Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) had announced that they would be selling these new Beechcraft King Air 250s back in April. HBC is one of the leading companies of the world in business, special mission, light attack, and trainer aircraft. Though I do have a few questions about this aircraft. Is this specific aircraft only flown in Europe at this moment or is it sold and flown all around the world? I mean I am enjoying what I hear about this new BKA 250 due to the new improvements on aerodynamics, visual, and takeoff performance while increasing speed, range, and climb. The Hawker Beechcraft Corporation seems to be a very large and well known company. If you are looking at different aircraft to either purchase of fly, I would suggest that you look into the HBC.

I thought this was a really Cool Video! This video not only gives you a neat perspective of many different airlines, but also gives you a little information about a few of the airlines that do business around the world. One piece of information that this video gives you is that Delta Airlines is the largest airline company, to this day! Some day I would like to fly for commercially and possibly, internationally, but hopefully that isn’t just a pipe dream! Time and hard work will tell. Also, this video tells us that Asiana Airlines was thee best airline back in twenty ten. I am pretty sure that if you had the best airline in the world, you would feel pretty proud of yourself! Especially if it is put in a video to music like this video plays! To own my own airport or airline would be absolutely a dream come true! I definitely need/want to get quite a few years of piloting under my belt before that happens but some day I would love to own my own airline company! Though, the experience of piloting is my most important goal at this point. Just being in the air and living life, free as a bird, now isn’t that everybody’s dream? You would certainly think so. It is just the best feeling in the world taking off for the first time, looking over the horizon while sun sets on empty blue skies. Now THAT is nothing that can be beat!

I would like to start off with giving you, as a reader, a few general aviation terms that are used around the world, coming from the BBC guidance listings.

AOC – Air Operators Certificate, this is issued by a state’s Regulatory Authority when they are satisfied that the operator has all systems, process and procedures in place to carry out normal Public Transport flight. If a company has an AOC, they will normally satisfy all BBC basic requirements in relation to Aerial Filming

Pilots Licenses – These in three categories, Private (PPL), Commercial (CPL) and Air Transport (ATPL). For Aerial filming purposes only CPL & ATPL license holders can be engaged.

Public Transport – Companies who operate under a Public Transport category in regulatory terms are the most stringently controlled and regulated, therefore offers the highest level of safety. Companies which have an AOC in the Public Transport category should be used for aerial filming purposes.

Let’s begin with the AOC (Air Operator Certificate). This certificate serves the same purpose all around the world. Every pilot must have this certificate in order to do any sort of aerial operations. For the beginner pilot, training for their Private Pilot License (PPL), you must:
– train for a minimum of 40 hours of flight time (10 of those solo)
– have some ground schooling, and
– fly for three hours with an FAA Flight Instructor, and
– finally, pass a written exam
After doing so, and passing, you will then recieve your PPL and also your AOC. Flying is not cheap, therefore, you WILL need to have a budget between two thousand and fifteen thousand dollars. This money will go toward the rental of the plane, the time put into flying, and the fuel. The cost of obtaining each certificate and licenses all depends on where you go and how long it takes you to learn all of the material and master the material. With the PPL, you will be able to fly for recreation and/or pilot for a small business. Typically though, with only a PPL, jobs, like Aerial Photography, are the most common. Anything higher you will then need to move up the ladder, as they say, to receive a higher ranking Pilot’s License and Flight Certificate. If I haven’t mentioned already, these licenses and certificates are no different than  your driver’s license. You will need to carry them at all times!

This blog is going to be everything applicable to my interests. I have always been craning my neck toward the sky dreaming that one day I would live there. Back in middle school, I had taken my first flight. I had taken two flights, one from San Francisco to Pheonix, then Pheonix to Cedar Rapids. This was a huge turning point in my life since this was the point that I finally made the decision to continue with my interest in Flight Operations. I then began to look into colleges around my hometown. Internship opportunities, scholarships, phone numbers, emails, information letters in the mail began to pill up all around me. In the early years of my high school career, I had already planned out the next six years of my life. I knew exactly what classes I needed to take in order to reach my goal and I had a fairly good idea of which college I wanted to attend. Recently I had taken two visits to the University of Dubuque. This university is absolutely perfect to my interests. Between having a beautiful campus, friendly staff, and a fabulous Aviation program, there was no way I was deciding otherwise to not attend the university. My application, transcript, and ACT scores are already sent in and I am only waiting for the nerve racking moment when I receive a letter from them in a few months. Hopefully all goes well and I will be able to begin my long journey of becoming a professional airline pilot!
