Gaming. Why do we play games? What is the fun in gaming? Why do people just like to sit around in their bedrooms or living rooms and sit in front of a monitor or television and play games all day? Well, for my understanding from being a gamer myself, it is just a way of having fun. I think that most gamers would say the same thing. That they think that gaming is sort of a hobby. They like to do it because it gives them something to do if they get bored. To some it may be a sort of an addiction like they absolutely have to be in front of the monitor to play their game or they go crazy. One example that I can think of with that would be children. They seem to be a little more prone to addiction to gaming than slightly older people even though I do know a few that, some may say are addicted to their games but that’s beside the point. I know that I have a strong addiction to playing games on the computer. I like to play games running off of Steam. I began playing computer games back when I was hanging with my uncle a lot when he was big into playing games. I actually became more interested into computer gaming when I first began building computers. I think the whole hardware aspect of computer building is absolutely fascinating! I love to build them and see what each one does and why they have it there and also putting in the new, latest and greatest equipment you can get on the market. That’s always exciting. Like now they have the ability to have multiple monitors running on one tower whether it be for a job or for gamers. For gamers at least they are able to see more of their game at once with Eyefinity. This basically gives you more of a layout of what you are seeing in the game. It doesn’t stretch the image to make it look flat and fat but it actually gives you more of the image. I think it’s pretty cool!

We had recently spent some time reading about Mohatma Gandhi! Before hand, I had known absolutely nothing about the guy! I just knew that from what everybody else was saying about him that he was an amazing guy that did some wonderful things for world peace. I thought he was just some guy that had a really good moving speech or something of that sort, but of course I was way off the beaten track with that accusation! Gandhi was a man of extreme rarity! He had pushed so hard to fight for the rights of his people with non-violence! It was practically a new way of thinking for everybody around the world. People were absolutely astonished by what Gandhi was doing and how he was going about it and seeing that his methods were actually working! They found that you can go about fighting for what you want without jumping straight to conclusions with violence and hatred toward the person that is hindering you or your people from what you or all of you want and prefer. This was absolutely amazing. Gandhi was a lawyer so he knew the ways of justice and also he knew how to talk to people and be convincing. He also thought that people looked too much toward economic progress, or looked too far into obtaining material goods. Gandhi wanted everybody to think more about leaning toward real progress or moral progress. That being, work more on personal character and working toward a better community through non-violence. He had stated in an interview we read that Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, and Ramakrishna were thee most influential and moral people of all time and they all focused on moral progress firsthand. They all lived in poverty by choice and chose moral progress of economic progress. Gandhi had said that if you focus more on the moral progress first then the economic progress will just follow! Basically meaning that if you are bold in character and strong in society then the material goods will just come to you rather than fighting to obtain them first.

Slumdog Millionaire! This movie was based off of a novel that was written by Vikas Swarup. That novel was Q & A. We are reading this novel in my World Humanities class. We thought it would be a good book to read while we were still on the whole world religion conversations that we have been having in class. We thought of this book because it does give a lot of references to many different religions and a few different cultures from a different country in the world than our own, India! The novel is based in India with a little boy named Ram Mohammed Thomas. Though, in the movie, the boy’s name is Jamal. In the novel he was named that name by a priest since the priest didn’t know the boy’s religion he gave him three different names that all pertain to three different religions just in case. This boy also had a very best friend in the novel named Salim. Although Salim was Jamal’s brother in the hit film, Slumdog Millionaire. The reason for being called Q & A or Slumdog Millionaire is because the little orphan boy Ram or the slum runner boy Jamal both are selected to be on the hit show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, or in the books case Who Wants To Win A Billion. I absolutely enjoyed watching the movie. I had seen the movie  many times before we began reading this novel so I sort of have a good base of what the novel was going to be about  but then again the novel is very different from the film! They are very different but they both have the same idea of having a boy from the slums go in, win the jackpot and be tortured and questioned on how he managed to answer all the questions right without having any education or anything of that sort.
